In 2021, the aviation industry committed to a goal of carbon neutrality by 2050, an objective that was reaffirmed one year later by the adoption of the LTAG (Long Term Aspirational Goal) by more than 180 ICAO member states. This objective is extremely ambitious and will require the activation of all available technological levers: improving fleet efficiency by developping ultra-efficient aircraft, optimizing operations, but also an immediate and massive deployment of low-carbon fuels (biofuels, eFuels and hydrogen). This keynote aims to present these different levers, their potential but also the potential obstacles to their activation.
