About The Prices… RTX 50 Blackwell
The RTX 50 series is right around the corner, prices have finally been announced and we need to talk about it. Before that, the CES coverage is brought to you by MSI with their new QD OLED monitors bringing excellent speed, clarity and colors at an affordable price, and Nvidia who flew me out to see their new RTX 50 series cards revolutionizing graphics via new features and higher performance than ever before. Okay, so the RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti and 5070 have all been announced and the pricing is a bit different than I was expecting. Now many people were suggesting that we could be seeing well in excess of a thousand dollars for something like an 80 class card, but to me that never really sounded right and it was just confirmed. No, that is not the case. The 5090 is coming out at $19.99, which is roughly where I was expecting. The RTX 5080 is coming in at $9.99. Then we have the 5070 Ti coming in at $750 and the 5070 coming in finally at $550. And what makes this generation so interesting is that they've actually cut the price on a ton of models, except for the 5090, which we'll talk about that. But let's start off with the RTX 5070. Is $550 a good price? And this one is probably going to be the most controversial card as the 4070 at roughly $600 was just far too high in my opinion. But the 5070 coming in with more performance and $50 less in terms of pricing, but still giving you 12 gigabytes of VRAM. I think again will be controversial because the price to performance will be better, but you will be potentially limited by that 12 gigabytes of VRAM in some of the latest and greatest games. And in fact, we go ahead and we take a look at the history of 70 class prices. Well, it looks like the average price when taking a look at the 670 all the way to the 4070 is roughly $463.
