It's a song about reincarnation and the law of karma, which, according to the Vedic scriptures of ancient India, is the way the Universe works. Karma is the Vedic equivalent to the Biblical concept of "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." Karma is a Sanskrit word which has become part of the English language. It is mentioned dozens of times in the Bhagavad-gita, the most popular of the Vedic scriptures from ancient India.
