The Kolkata Book Fair (Boi Mela) isn’t just an event—it’s an emotion for book lovers! Started in 1976, it’s now Asia’s largest book fair, attracting millions of visitors every year. What makes it unique? Unlike other international book fairs that are more focused on publishing business, this one is a reader’s paradise—a place where people come to explore, buy, and celebrate books.
Each year, the fair features a theme country, showcasing its literature, culture, and publications. This year, the theme country is Germany, adding a global literary flavor to the event. Walking through the fair, you’ll find everything from bestsellers and rare classics to indie publications and regional literature.
