Southern pig-tailed macaques (Macaca nemistrina) are characterised by their short pig-like tail. These macaques live in large social groups of 5 - 40 individuals. Adult males can be identified by their size - they are about twice the size of females. Southern pig-tailed macaques are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
