In this video, I’m exploring Kochi in Kerala, India, sharing my first impressions of this vibrant city. I start the vlog at one of the most famous landmarks—the Chinese fishing nets, which are unique to the region. I chat with some local fishermen, and they invite me to learn about their traditional fishing methods, even letting me join in on the action.
After getting a taste of the local fishing culture, I head to a food vendor to try some Kerala street food. I opt for a delicious beef curry and parotta, a popular dish here in Kochi. I then make my way to Fort Kochi beach, where I speak with more locals on the sand who have caught fish in their nets.
I take a break with a coconut from a roadside stand before continuing my walk through the streets of Fort Kochi. I’m getting a feel for Fort Kochi, Kerala, and my first impressions of the area.
Kochi is also home to India's first water metro, so I jump on the Kochi water metro for a quick ride across the water to the High Court area. Along the way, I stop for a drink from a local vendor before heading to a nearby bazaar to take in the sights. I grab some banana chips from a stall and head to a toddy shop to taste the local alcoholic drink, usually paired with curry.
To wrap up my Kerala vlog, I take a boat ride around the bay to end the day. This trip to Kochi has given me some great first impressions of the city, and I’ll definitely be back to explore more of Kochi, Kerala, and Fort Kochi in the future.
