According to the Hindu calendar, the festival of Vaikuntha Chaturdashi is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Shukla Paksha in the month of Kartik. On this day, both Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are worshiped together. According to religious beliefs, by worshiping Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu on this day, a person attains salvation. Along with this, all the troubles are removed from the person's life. It is believed that all the defects of the horoscope are also eliminated by the worship done on this day.

Guru Nanak Dev Ji was born on Kartik Purnima in Sri Nankana Sahib located in Pakistan. On Guru Nanak Jayanti, Guru Parv or Prakash Parv, bhajans, kirtans, ardas and langar are organized in all gurdwaras.
On Prakash Parv, Prabhat Pheri is taken out across the city and the precious sayings of Guru Nanak Dev are told. Prabhat Pheri is started a few days before Guru Nanak Jayanti. During this, the devotees are enthralled by the Sangat devotees by singing Kirtan on the way. Kirtan is also done by visiting two houses every day on these days. Where Prabhat Pheri and Sangat are welcomed with a shower of flowers and fireworks are done.
Grand decorations are done in the Gurudwaras, Guru ka Prasad Langar is also distributed. Along with this, posters based on Guru Nanak Dev Ji are released. According to tradition, men and women participating in Prabhatpheri wear white clothes and saffron dupatta and walk while singing Guruvani. All the groups are welcomed with garlands and flowers at various places. In the evening, a program of Shabad Kirtan is also organized by decorating the Divan. On the day of Prakash Parv, a series of religious rituals start in the Gurudwaras from the morning itself, which continues till late night. It is considered the biggest festival of the Sikh community.
