Michigan Deer Regulations 24'-25' Liberty / Independence Hunt Changes

Michigan Deer Regulations 24'-25' Liberty / Independence Hunt Changes

The Michigan DNR Commission approved changes to the Liberty and Independence deer hunts in 2024 that will take effect in 2025 and expire in 2029:
Antlerless only
The hunts will only allow hunters to harvest antlerless deer. Previously, hunters could use a deer license or a combination license to hunt either antlered or antlerless deer.
Eligibility
The hunts are reserved for hunters who are 16 years old or younger, or hunters with disabilities. Hunters under 10 must be licensed through the mentored youth hunting program and accompanied by a qualified mentor. Hunters with disabilities who meet specific requirements may use bait in areas where baiting is normally banned, but only during the Liberty and Independence hunts.
