Hey Guy’s! Welcome back to my channel.
In today’s garden video I discuss Powdery Mildew.
It crept upon my garden but I didn’t notice it until maybe a whole week after it started.
Powdery Mildew is a fungus.
It’s Fall so the days are getting shorter and it’s not as hot during the day.
At night when temperatures drop and dew forms on the plants that moisture doesn’t dry during the daytime with shorter days and lower temperatures. During the Summertime it’s hot and the days are longer so nighttime dew has plenty of time to dry.
You have to treat the fungus or it will spread all over the garden and kill everything.
The treatment I chose is Peroxide and Water because it’s a more natural cure that doesn’t include harsh chemicals.
Recipe:
3/4 Cup of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
1 Gallon of Water
Mix together in an empty gallon jug. Shake to mix then apply daily to the plant or plants until the fungus is gone. Apply the treatment generously and make sure that it stays on the plant long enough to heal it. Do not use in direct daylight because the sun will dry the treatment too fast. The solution needs to penetrate the leaves in order to kill the fungus.
You may need to cut the worse looking leaves off of the plant. This will help heal the plant.
It took at least a whole week to notice that my plants were looking significantly better.
Then Hurricane Helene wiped them both out.
Next time I’ll use a different remedy and compare these results to find out which works best.
I hope you find the treatment in this video helpful 🙏
