ABOUT JUPITER AS A 'GRAHA' ('BRIHASPATI DEVA')
Astronomically, Jupiter or 'Guru' as we call him in Vedic astrology, is the 'guru' or teacher to the 'devas' and is the keeper of knowledge, performs homas for the 'devas' and is responsible for guiding them towards success and light.
Jupiter is a powerful planet and from the perspective of the solar system, he is actually the protector of the 'inner' planets in the solar system and maintains structure and balance by protecting the Earth from asteroids coming from outer space.
However, every now and then, Jupiter, astronomically speaking, does have the ability to hurl an asteroid in the direction of the Earth causing massive events such as the extinction of the dinosaurs.
It is not surprising that even astrologically and in vedic wisdom, Jupiter is considered a 'strict' planet. He is a great benefic no doubt about that but he is a 'guru' and abides by a certain code of conduct that others are expected to adhere to.
So Jupiter wherever he is in the chart, that is where the native will most likely experience their most blessings in the material plane and that is also where they will gain the most wisdom and growth.
ABOUT JUPITER RETROGRADE:
'VAKRI' Jupiter OR 'RETROGRADE' Jupiter is considered to mean a lot of difficult things from the perspective of attracting the wrong teachers or influences in terms of guidance in one's life.
You see retrograde planets are more powerful in their presence in the chart and the individual's life therefore Saturn acquiring more prominence in this way is considered to bear ill for the individual.
However nothing can be further from the truth since Jupiter is after all, the biggest 'benefic' of all. He seeks only to do good and lead souls and devotees.. the native as a whole towards growth and abundance.. however, he can get 'angered' if he is not respected. gratefulness and gratitude.
Guru 'Brihaspati' is considered to play a very important role in religious ceremonies and not religious ceremony of a permanent long term impact, like marriages, griha pravesha etc. can be carried out if Guru is going retrograde.
Why is that?
Because what the retrograde energy does is that it for sure makes one lucky and abundant in the long term. In the short term however one many often be faced with circumstances and situations where they don't have the right guidance. Where they don't have the correct guidance.
Even so, this placement will most often be found in individuals who seem to quite 'blessed' in life. Those 'blessings' however do not come about easily and Jupiter retrograde individuals alone know how much they would have had to struggle to manifest these blessings into their life through finding their own path in life.
