Listen to Primordial Radio 24/7 - links.primordialradio.com/listen | Ahren Stringer has taken legal action against The Amity Affliction, igniting a major dispute over the band's name.
Documents from IP Australia reveal that Stringer has filed trademark applications for both "The Amity Affliction" and "Amity Affliction," covering music production, publishing, and entertainment services. However, frontman Joel Birch quickly opposed the filings, setting the stage for a heated legal battle within the metalcore scene.
According to reports, Stringer’s applications are currently under examination, with a final decision expected by January 10, 2026. Meanwhile, Birch officially filed his opposition just four days after the applications were submitted, though the specifics of his objections remain undisclosed. Adding fuel to the fire, Stringer took to Instagram to share a “Notice of Intention” regarding the trademark "Amity," alongside a pointed message: “Who started the band again? You will lose.”
This legal conflict comes after the band previously stated that Ahren Stringer would no longer be touring or recording with them, citing irreconcilable issues.
