In this video, we take you along as we tackle a whole series of home renovation projects around our farmhouse in rural France! We start with what we thought to be a simple task, installing a fiber optic cable. But, of course, nothing ever goes as planned. Here in France, we have to create a clear path for the cable ourselves, and since it can’t go around a tree, we have no choice but to dig a trench. What starts as a frustrating challenge quickly turns into another ambitious project, and we dive in with full energy!
At the same time, we’re making progress on our barn conversion, digging out part of the floor to prepare for future insulation and a concrete base. Sounds straightforward, right? Well… not quite. Thick clay, massive rocks, and even old pipes make the job much harder than expected. And as if that weren’t enough, we also need to figure out how to reinforce a wall with no real foundation before it collapses. No pressure!
Meanwhile, Simon’s dad is hard at work building walls for our parking area, and we jump in to help by laying electrical cables and working on some landscaping. There’s still a long way to go, but seeing everything come together is incredibly rewarding.
On top of all that, our mini-tractor is getting an upgrade! We’re building a custom transport rack of course we had ‘another day another problem’ when our welding machine suddenly decides to quit. But we don’t give up easily, and in the end, we get it done. The tractor is now even more useful, making it easier to clean up branches after tree pruning.
