After various acting projects, there is news that BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is making her return in the music industry as well. On January 13, the official SNS account of BLACKPINK’s Jisoo’s label, BLISSOO, published a “coming soon” video, showing a lie detector in action.
With this, the female idol effectively confirmed that she will be releasing her 2nd solo album on February 14, which falls on Valentine’s Day.
According to Jisoo’s side, the new album will include music that features her own unique storytelling. Details such as the album title, concept, and song information will be announced later.
Jisoo also explained her decision to release the new album on Valentine’s day, saying, I chose Valentine’s Day because I thought it would look romantic if it was released then. "The gift is me.”
The female idol also expressed, “It’s my first time preparing everything on my own, and wow… there’s so much to do! But since BLINKs have been waiting, I wanted to do everything to make you happy. I took lots of photos and worked hard to get everything ready! Look forward to it. I love you. I’m looking forward to ‘Newtopia’ and the 2nd solo album.”
This marks Jisoo’s first solo comeback in nearly two years since her debut single album “ME” was released in 2023. The album’s title track, “Flower”, sparked a massive trend with the “Flower Challenge” and earned her numerous accolades, including nine music show wins, solidifying her popularity.
However, reactions towards Jisoo’s acting performance in “Newtopia” is so far rather ambiguous. In addition to her solo and acting projects, Jisoo is expected to join BLACKPINK for group activities. YG Entertainment’s executive producer Yang Hyun-suk has already announced plans for BLACKPINK’s comeback and a new world tour this year.
