Kings and Generals animated historical documentary series on the middle ages and crusades continues with the first video in our series on the Second Crusade. Previously, we have covered the First ( • First Crusade - Full Story, Every Bat... ), Third ( • Third Crusade 1189-1192: From Hattin ... ) and Fourth Crusades ( • Fourth Crusade: From Sack to Restorat... ) and our coverage starts with the battle of Ager Sanguinis - the Field of Blood in 1119, as the rise of Ilghazi of the Artukids threatens the Crusader states leading to the clash with Roger of Salerno and the Principate of Antioch ( • Ager Sanguinis 1119 - Crusaders' Fiel... ). In the aftermath, Ilghazi continued to attack the Crusader territory, leading to the battle of Hab, as king Baldwin counterattacked ( • Battle of Hab 1119 - Baldwin Strikes ... ). In the third episode we described the fate of Ilghazi and the battle of Didgori ( • Battle of Didgori 1121 - Georgian-Sel... ), Baldwin's captivity, Venetian Crusade of 1122-1124 and the Battle of Tyre ( • Venetian Crusade 1122-1124 - Middle A... ), while the episode 4 will cover the battle of Azaz, during which the Crusaders managed to turn the tide ( • Battle of Azaz - Crusaders Turn the T... ), while the 5th described the Damascene Crusade, as the Crusaders attacked the Emirate of Damascus in another failed crusade, as well as the appearance of the Nizari Assassins in the region ( • Another Failed Crusade - Assassins Ap... ). Meanwhile, Crusaders' situation would grow worse with the rise of Imad al-Din Zengi - their worst nightmare before Saladin, which lead to the battle of Montferrand (Ba'rin) in 1137 ( • Rise of Imad al-Din Zengi - Battle of... ). Over the next years, the Eastern Roman Emperor John III also intervened into the events, but the siege and fall of Edessa in 1444 took the center stage, triggering the beginning of the Second Crusade.
