YouTubers love to call things "cinematic", but what does that actually mean?
In this video I dive into why I think shots that look nice or are well lit aren't necessarily cinematic. I feel like in order for something to be cinematic it needs to tell a story. Taking an Alexa with an expensive anamorphic lens and shooting random shots on the street doesn't make it "cinematic".
The word cinematic has lost all meaning at this point and we should retire it.
