Weezer wasn't always destined to be the power pop/alternative rock champions they are today. In fact, Rivers Cuomo's first love was heavy metal. He formed bands like Fury, Avant Garde, and Zoom inspired by that love. He listened to Kiss and Judas Priest. This would all change in the early 90's when he was introduced to Nirvana and Pixies. The rest is history.
