The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken a significant step by banning two anti-national organizations, namely the Awami Action Committee, led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and the JK Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, led by Abbas Ansari. This decision was made following a thorough investigation under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) .
I firmly believe that this move is a welcome step towards curbing separatist tendencies. The ongoing anguish of Mehbooba Mufti and her People's Democratic Party stems from their separatist ideology, which has led to compromises with such organizations in the past. Now, with the Modi government cracking down on separatism, their discomfort is palpable.
