In the 1940s, actress Hedy Lamarr invented a tech that paved the way for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Did you know that the technology behind Wi-Fi and Bluetooth was co-developed by a Hollywood actress? Hedy Lamarr, celebrated for her roles in the 1930s and 1940s, was also an inventor. During World War II, she collaborated with composer George Antheil to develop a frequency-hopping system aimed at preventing the jamming of radio-controlled torpedoes. Although the U.S. Navy initially overlooked their invention, it later became the foundation for modern wireless communications, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. Lamarr's contributions to technology were recognized posthumously, highlighting her as a pioneer in both the entertainment and scientific fields.
