This tea was a real treat and also represented drinking-while-parenting so if you do not like the sweet chaos of two-ish year old pls skip this one!
Some notes about this tea that I was not able to cohere into thoughts on this episode:
This tea was really pleasant, smooth, and had a profile of a nice daily drinker for me. The material is interesting (Taiwanese Oolong brought to South Central Honshu) and maybe contributes to the bright notes of fruit and flowers but I really do not have the experience to know flavors to expect from which regions in Japan.
I enjoyed the first steeping the most, noting the mellow sweet fruit and a less intense bitterness.
Things turned tart and bright on the second steeping, with some rose hip stuff happening.
IDK about all of the tests but I liked drinking this one from Tezumi and could imagine doing 50ml sessions (3grams for 50 seconds at 180*F/82*C) on a semi-regular basis.
Note: I wasn't able to find Uji on google maps while ensuring no humans were harmed during the making of this episode and mistakenly pointed to Nara instead, my b y'all. Most of the Japanese green tea I've had so far has been from Uji and the surrounding region.
