Hi!
So this might be a controversial topic: Tracing, Copying vs Referencing in your art process.
But these 3 types of using image material are essential to any artist. Without these techniques we wouldn’t be able to make proper looking artwork. How does an arm look like? What colours did this artist use to achieve a certain effect and how does this perspective work?
We have to observe to understand. The best way to understand is to replicate the observed reference.
My approach of memorising is to straight up use tracing, copying and referencing in my actual artworks. I want to show you how and to what you have to pay attention to when you do this.
❗️ Disclaimer:
When you use tracing and copying in your actual artworks make sure to use stock images.
