This is what they do. They turn the fans against Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, Micah Parsons etc and cry poverty during free agency because they don't want to write checks. They know they'll be writing them to those players, but if they sign them early, they'll have cap space for free agency. Signing good players there means you write a signing bonus check.
