► The Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in central Idaho is a place of stark beauty and harsh landscapes, spanning over 750,000 acres of rugged lava flows and volcanic cinder cones. It was here in September 2013 that two friends, Amelia Linkert and Jo Blakesley, vanished, leaving behind a strange set of circumstances. Amelia, a retired middle school teacher, and Joe, a physician, were last seen setting out on an adventure to explore this otherworldly terrain. The search for them, hindered by the park's treacherous conditions and unpredictable weather, unfolded over weeks, turning up only more questions as their bodies were discovered far from their intended path.
