BACKYARD - HOW TO MAKE A COZY OUTDOOR AREA
---------------------------------------
Transforming your backyard into a cozy and functional space is much easier than it seems! Have you ever thought that this outdoor area can be much more than just an empty space? In today's video, I'll show you how to create the perfect environment to relax, entertain friends and even enjoy time with your family, with simple, practical and stylish tips. Let's go!
The first step is to define the use of the space. The backyard is an extension of your home and can have countless functions: leisure area, gourmet space, garden, swimming pool, hot tub, pergola, fireplace, playground, koi pond, or even a little bit of everything! The secret is to divide the space into well-organized zones, such as rest, dining or gardening areas, and ensure that circulation is functional. Don't forget to plan a space to store equipment, such as gardening tools, pool accessories or barbecue utensils. Every detail makes a difference. When choosing flooring, think about materials that are beautiful, functional and suitable for outdoor areas. Porcelain tiles are durable, easy to clean and can imitate wood, stone or concrete. Wooden decks give a rustic and welcoming touch, while natural stones, such as Portuguese stone and polished granite, bring sophistication. For something more sustainable, interlocking draining or cement floors help to avoid excessive waterproofing and improve soil drainage. Oh, and an important reminder: be careful not to block access to sewage tanks, which are usually located in this area. Speaking of vegetation, choosing the right plants completely transforms the yard. Less grass and more pebbles combined with ornamental plants, such as maranta cigar, heliconia and rib of Adam, create an incredible and low-maintenance look. Fruit trees, such as jabuticaba and lemon trees, in addition to providing shade, bring freshness and a special charm. If you want an even more functional touch, bet on a small vegetable garden to have fresh herbs at home! And remember to organize the species according to the amount of sunlight in the yard – consulting a landscaper or specialist can make all the difference.
Furniture also plays an essential role. Invest in durable materials, such as aluminum, treated wood or resins, which are resistant to climate change. For protected areas, such as gazebos, chairs with nautical rope are elegant and comfortable. Waterproof and colorful cushions bring comfort and a touch of personality. Don't forget accessories such as hammocks, lounge chairs or umbrellas, which create shade and make the environment more cozy. For smaller yards, a portable barbecue is a practical and charming solution.
And how about thinking about sustainability in your yard? Rainwater collection systems to irrigate the garden and composting to reduce waste and feed the plants are practical and ecological ideas that make a difference. In addition to contributing to the environment, you also save resources and bring a touch of awareness to your space.
Now, tell me: which of these ideas will you put into practice in your yard? Or do you have any other tips that have worked really well? Leave a comment below!
