A summary of recent progress and outcomes in clinical islet transplantation for the treatment of Diabetes will be provided, together with a discussion of approaches to stem cell transplantation (autologous and allogeneic) as a means to control autoimmunity, and provide alternative expanded beta cell sources for clinical application.
