SCP-2177-1 is a viral envelope that takes the form of a technical journal and contains the SCP-2177 pathogen, with infections identified in 17 institutions. Alpha events occur when infected institutions discard or attempt to remove SCP-2177-1, leading to increased reproduction rates and additional instances of infection. Beta events occur when an infection is eliminated or an institution ceases operation, with SCP-2177 transmitted to other vulnerable libraries until at least one becomes infected. Infected institutions are to be infiltrated by Level-2 personnel and quarantined, with financial and political support provided to keep them in operation and intercept deliveries of documents to vulnerable institutions.
