As I head off to Portugal for a much needed vacation (all of my vacations for these past few years have been gigs I was playing), I am taking the fantastic Carol Brass Mini Pocket trumpet with me to keep my chops in shape because I have a performance as soon as I get back. While the pocket by itself is great it does have a smaller sound do the fact that the bell is so small. The folks at Carol Brass have figured out something that you could take with you to add so much more core to your sound. Check out the ante mute - it really works! Now this is just lo-fi cell phone recording, but I still think you can hear the difference between the pocket without the addition!
