3 Tricks for Better Woodworking Project Photos

In the spirit of “use what you’ve got,” we’ll show you how to snap a couple of nice photos of your woodworking projects right in your home woodshop using just your smartphone, the light outside, and a couple of basic supplies (without spending any money on special lamps).

If taking photos isn’t your thing, here’s just about the easiest way you can get great pictures of your woodworking projects without spending a lot of money or dedicating a lot of time.
Here’s what you need:

• Smartphone or another digital camera
• White craft paper or a sheet
• Assorted boards and clamps
• A window or door to the outside

You’ll just need to be sure that the daylight is indirect. So if your shop window or door faces east, then wait until the afternoon to shoot a picture. The daylight will be softer and nicer to work with when it’s ambient rather than direct.
