Losing his own mother to heart failure last year brought Neil Johnson very close to the reality of living with a chronic condition like CVD. In episode 3 of ‘From the Heart’, Neil, who is the Executive Director, Global Heart Hub, shares his opinion on health preservation and the importance of implementing health strategies for preventing CVD. He cites complacency as one of the reasons why CVD isn’t being tackled effectively, and talks about the need to reframe the discussion, waking people up to the significant burden CVD has on society. Neil also encourages us all to take ownership of our heart health, urging us to ‘’Own it. Check it. Sort it.’’
From the Heart is a collection of life experiences told by those living with and those tackling the global reality of CVD. In this series of intimate conversations between Marie-France Tschudin and leading voices advocating CVD awareness and change, we get an honest look into global healthcare systems, personal anecdotes, patient journeys and an insight into the non-clinical barriers that prevent people from receiving care and treatment they need.
