• Suichan: Kart to Survive - Season 1 (...
This second season (well, episode) takes us back to Suichan's Mario Kart training in 2020 and early 2021. This episode does NOT include the actual 2021 Holo Cup. There was too much material, it would have ended up being over an hour. So this is almost more a series of clips of various amusing/interesting parts of her Mario Kart streams (a couple GTA streams snuck in, too) running up to the day before the cup. Hopefully I picked fun enough parts that it makes for an interesting viewing experience, even if it is a bit disjointed.
Please let me know if you like this format, or if you'd rather I focused on just the cups. Also know it's positively a miracle that I actually got the 2nd episode out less than 2 weeks after the first. Don't expect that pace to keep up or you'll be disappointed. As usual, comments and corrections are very welcome, about translation, editing, the weather, etc.

Specific notes:
Rakugo:
Jugemu is a Rakugo classic about a man wanting to come up with an auspicious name for his child. He asks for suggestions and receives a whole list. He then goes on to give the child every last one of them, resulting in the absurdly long name starting with Jugemu that Suichan recites. If you want a lighthearted introduction to the art of Rakugo, I cannot recommend more strongly you read the manga or watch the anime, "Joshiraku," written by Kumeta Kouji (mangaka for Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, of whom I am a huge fan, as you might have already noticed from references in my other videos) and illustrated by Yasu (character designer for Toradora!). Jugemu itself was parodied in a Joshiraku drama CD as "2D-mu":

Kabuki:
Uirou Uri, or the medicine peddler, is a Kabuki routine that's also a very long tongue twister. It's used as vocal warmup and enunciation training, you likely have heard a few lines of it if you watched any anime that includes a seiyuu, a drama club, a theater troupe, etc.
I actually go into a lot more detail about it in my video of Polka's performance of it. I will warn you, that video is mostly me having fun with After Effects, so visually, it's *a lot*. Polka's performance however is absolutely flawless. Go check it out, but you've been warned:

Chigyu:
Matsuri's insult that I translated as "smelly neckbeard" is actually really weird and specific. Chigyu is short for Cheese Gyuudon, and refers to "the type of people who order cheese beef bowls." The implication being someone nerdy or otherwise undesirable. Sega once had to apologize for using it to refer to their players (look it up). The girls end up taking it back and saying they think cheese beef bowls are good.
Inkya:
Somewhat similarly, Suichan uses the term "Inkya" (陰キャ) whenever she gets hit by lightning. I've translated around it rather than directly, but the literal meaning would be something like a shadow (陰) character (キャラ). It's used to describe a gloomy, asocial, negative person, meant as a character flaw (an outcast, if you will). The idea is that they strike from the darkness like cowards, and she uses a matching insult.
