Feeling #stressed, #anxious, and/or overwhelmed? You're not alone.
The 54321 is one of our favourite #groundingtechniques. It can be really powerful, as it involves all 5 of our senses, reconnecting ourselves with our physical body and grounding us in the present.
Today, we're using the technique in our local park as we talk you through the method. Here's what to do:
👀Look for 5 things you can see. Take your time to really look deeply, noticing every details of the 5 things you can see. We can see a bee collecting pollen, flowers in the park, our hands, fluffy clouds in the sky and a dog playing on the grass.
👉Be aware of 4 things you can touch. Find different textures and become aware of how they feel to touch. We can feel our clothing on our skin, the rough bark of a nearby tree, the firm ground our feet are touching, and soft leaves of a plant.
👂Listen in and find 3 things to hear. Really tune into the different noises that make up one sound. We can hear birdsong, the buzz of the bumblebee and the faint sound of traffic.
👃Find 2 things to smell. We can smell coffee and the subtle scent of flowers in the park and the smell of our clothes.
👄See if you can taste 1 thing. We have the lingering taste of toothpaste in our mouth. Try to be aware of what you can taste and bring yourself to the pre
